Welcome to the Benwiskin Centre Hostel in Ballintrillick, Co. Sligo

The Benwiskin Centre is one of the most ideally situated holiday hostels in Sligo. Set in the shadow of Benwiskin Mountain Sligo, part of Irelands Dartry Mountain range, with the Sligo coastline a short distance away, the Benwiskin Centre invites those looking for hostels in Sligo to come and experience the beauty of the North West of Ireland.

Why visit the Benwiskin Centre Hostel?

Are you looking for hostels in Sligo or self catering in Sligo, then look no further. The Benwiskin Centre is an ideal base for yourself, family or group to explore the North West. The Benwiskin Centre is a 26 bed Holiday Hostel and Self Catering Accommodation Centre in a rural village called Ballintrillick, which is in North County Sligo. 

         

The Benwiskin Centre was an old school, which has been renovated, restored and extended and split into 6 bedrooms. Many visitors take either a family room (double bed & a set of bunk beds, or a private room (2 singles and a set of bunk beds) or if you are on your own, you can just take a bed in a shared room. The centre can also be hired out in its entirety for group bookings/workshops.

 

So now you have a lovely private room with en-suite facilities, keys to come & go as you please, all duvets and linen are provided.

 

You share with other guests the self catering facilities of a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and a large common room area with TV, DVD and open fire. For a longer stay at the hostel you can avail of our laundry service. 

 

For the guests who like the self-catering option, some use our kitchen, some use our barbeque and eat in the picnic area.

  

You can also choose from the wide range of restaurants within a 10-mile radius of the hostel, there's something to suit all budgets and tastes.

                   

There are lots of activities nearby using the Benwiskin Centre as a base. Take a look at our information point and decide how to spend your day! How about going to the beach, choose from Mullaghmore, Rossnowlagh, Bundoran, or Streedagh. Fancy surfing? We can arrange to have groups who wish to take in surfing lessions picked up at the Centre and dropped back FOR FREE. Why not try out a few surfing lessons or travel around the North Sligo countryside in a horse drawn carriage. How about a bit of history and visit W.B. Yeat's Grave in Drumcliffe or Lissadell House and Gardens? Visit Queen Maeve's Grave on Knocknarea. How about a visit to Sligo Folk Park? Fancy a round of golf or a flutter on the horses at Sligo Races. Catch a show at the theatre or the latest release at the cinema? There are many beautiful areas for walking or cycling from the Benwiskin Centre and you can avail of our bicycle hire service.

The children also have plenty of activities to choose from nearby.  Horse riding lessons, amusements, an indoor play centre, the cinema, bowling, swimming. What about a day trip to Eagles Flying, Ireland's largest sanctuary for birds of prey and owls.  Why not contact us with your requirements and let us do the work for you!!

How about a bit of shopping? Choose from Sligo Town, Donegal Town, or go over the border to Enniskillen, for a wide range of shops.

PLEASE NOTE: Check in time is AFTER 2.00pm on the day of your arrival and check out time is at 11.00am on the day of your departure.  Please call our on call mobile number 087 4149189 if you are arriving outside of office hours and inform a member of staff of your expected time of arrival (please arrive before 11.00pm).

RESERVATIONS: May be made through our on-line booking facility on our home page or by contacting us directly by telephone or e-mail.

When booking directly with us through telephone or e-mail….RESERVATION & CANCELLATION POLICY: We request a Booking Deposit of 30% of your total price to confirm your reservation. A Reservation is not confirmed until a deposit is received.

We realise that sometimes plans change. Any cancellations or amendments to your reservation must be received by post, e-mail or fax addressed to The Manager.

In order to be fair and avoid any unnecessary charges please abide by the following minimum cancellation notification dates:

If you cancel 14 days or less before your check in date or are a 'No Show' - We will retain your full deposit.

If you cancel 15 days or more before your check in date:  We will retain a fee of 15% of your total booking (half your deposit) and refund the balance to you.

When booking through our on-line booking facility …. RESERVATION & CANCELLATION POLICY: A Deposit of 5% of your total price of your booking will be taken.  

We realise that sometimes plans change. Any cancellations or amendments to your reservation must be received by post, e-mail or fax addressed to The Manager.

In order to be fair and avoid any unnecessary charges please abide by the following minimum cancellation notification dates:

If you cancel 14 days or less before your check in date or are a 'No Show' - We will charge your credit card a further 25% of your total booking.

If you cancel 15 days or more before your check in date:  The 5% booking deposit will be retained.
